Last view of the The Long Wards originally designed by Sir Christopher Wren will be closed down at the end of March for refurbishment in the Grade I listed building,The Chelsea Pensioners have lived in the same small wooden 'berths' in the Long Wards since they were designed by Wren, due to this design the Pensioners have never had a lot of room for possessions and why the the Pensioner's Scarlet coats have hung outside the 'berths'.Pic Shows 89 yr old Sgt Eric Rawlinson Parachute Regiment who saw action at Ardennes in 1945 in his present 'berth' which he will be moving from next month
